In a huge development, Pol Ballus of The Athletic is reporting that Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie is on the verge of completing a €15 million transfer to Al-Ahli.

The 26-year-old has been informed that it would be best for him to leave as minutes will not be forthcoming at Barça this season.

Kessie had been reluctant to leave as he wished to succeed at the club. However, of late, he has accepted his fate and opened the doors for a departure.

Franck Kessie headed to Saudi Arabia

Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur had been linked with a move heavily, but it is Al-Ahli who are set to sign the Ivory Coast international.

The Saudi Arabian giants had shown an interest in Kessie last month as well, but the talks had broken down as the two parties could not come to an agreement.

However, having rekindled their interest in him again, Al-Ahli have moved quite swiftly and are on the verge of completing the transfer, reports The Athletic.

The report states that the deal will be completed for a fee of €15 million, which is what Barcelona had been seeking for the midfielder, after having decided to put him up for sale.

Not long ago, it was reported that Kessie would prefer to continue in Europe rather than move to Saudi Arabia.

However, sources earlier today suggested that the midfielder would be open to the move if he were offered a big payday.

And that might very well be the case now as he closes in on a move to Al-Ahli.

Okaz Sports from Saudi Arabia is reporting that there is already an agreement between the player and the club and that Al-Ahli will soon be sending a formal offer to Barça.

The Saudi Arabian outfit have already signed several big-name stars such as Riyad Mahrez, Allan Saint-Maximin, Roberto Firmino, and Edouard Mendy and Kessie is set to be the latest addition to that roster.
